Our region

Our region

Our beautiful region was given UNESCO World Heritage status in July 2015.

Everyone knew about champagne the drink; now everyone will know about Champagne the region. A fitting tribute to all the generations who came before us and a fantastic legacy for all the generations who will come after us.

La Neuville aux Larris stands at an altitude of 245m above the right bank in the Vallée de la Marne, on the Route du Champagne in the Montagne de Reims Nature Park. It makes a great base with Epernay, Reims and Dormans all within 20 minutes.

Our Champagne countryside epitomises our region: our village stands on a leafy peak overlooking our hillside vineyards with villages snuggled up in the middle. It has a prime ecosystem and outstanding geological features.

La Cave aux Coquillages is just 5 minutes away nd makes for a fascinating outing with a whole host of fossils from the Mesozoic Era, 90 million years ago.

The pretty village of Hautvillers is 15 minutes from our villa and came out of the war unscathed. The village is beautifully preserved and famous for its wrought iron signs.

The Benedictine abbey is a visitor hotspot as the birthplace of champagne.

Dom Pérignon spent some of his life here and this is where he discovered fizz. The monk’s tomb is at the church (30 rue de Bacchus 51160 Hautvillers). My mum grew up in Hautvillers and used to take me there as a child. You can explore its little lanes just like I did when I was little.

There’s a fantastic view next to the tennis courts.
